Insurance

Do you accept insurance? How often can I receive services? Does anyone need to know I am in counseling?

1st Step Counseling Services caters to the individual needs of our clients. Self-paying clients maintain the privacy and anonymity of treatment and unlimited services.

Aetna, BCBS Highmark, Carelon (Empire/Emblem), Cigna, CDPHP, Fidelis, MVP, and United Healthcare (Optum). Clients may seek insurance reimbursement if we are out-of-network with other insurers upon completion of services.

Treatment Services

Is this a drug rehab? Where are you located? What are the hours? Can I bring my children? Do I need to live in the Capital Region?

1st Step Counseling Services provides outpatient-based services in downtown Albany, where public transportation is accessible. Working professionals and individuals with demanding schedules are accommodated with evening and weekend hours. Trained childcare professionals will support children while adults access any of our services. Online therapy is an available option. Anyone can get therapy without traveling to our office.

1st Step Counseling Services offers a sliding fee scale and free monthly support groups. Private pay is accepted for services or insurance reimbursement if we are out-of-network with the insurance companies.

Services Offered and Costs

1st Step Counseling Services accepts out-of-pocket pay utilizing an electronic billing system requiring electronic payment. Payment must be made before the appointment. A $50 cancellation fee will be imposed for cancellations within 24 hours of a scheduled service.
